Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing and starting at a Nursery for the first time can be a daunting experience. Our complete open door policy means that we will always be glad to hear from you and help with any queries you may have whenever you may have them - from initial enquiry through to your child's graduation - and so please do make contact with us and we will help as best as we can.

Please also see below for some frequently asked questions to help with any general queries you may have.

What are the Nursery opening hours?

Jemima House is open to care from children between six weeks and five years of age, from 7:30am until 6pm, Monday to Friday and for 51 weeks of the year. Our closing dates will be over each of the UK Bank Holidays and for the week between Christmas and New Year.

Do you offer the free government hours?

Yes, we are proud to be able to offer the free two, three and four year old hours as funded by the government. For those children taking advantage of their free hours there is a small charge for food, to cover all of our meals and snacks which are freshly prepared on-site. Any additional hours a child is booked in for each week, further to any free hours they may claim, will be charged at our standard rate for the child's age.

What sessions do you offer?

A full day for us covers 8am to 6pm, a morning session is 8am to 1pm and an afternoon is 1pm to 6pm. An early start is available from 7:30am for those who have need, and can be added on to either the full day or morning sessions. Please call us for more information on pricing and availability.

Who will be looking after my babies?

Jemima House is being led by an existing family-run Nursery with two decades of experience in providing the highest quality of care and early education, and whose practice has been graded 'Outstanding' by Ofsted. The individual team members within the setting - from its Manager to each individual practitioner - have been chosen not only for their excellent skills and experience, but also because they are 'Good Eggs', which is one of the Nursery's core recrutiment strategies and philosophies.  While it is possible to support and coach an individual through their formal qualifications, qualities which make for a kind, caring and genuinely compassionate person are something we believe to be innate.

What makes what we offer at Jemima House so special?Based within the Ermine Street Church Academy, we are very excitied to be able to offer a jam-packed, stimulating and very unique curriculum for our little ones. As well as our core learning environment, we are also fortunate to have access to a music suite, cookery classroom, full library and an on-site forest school area. Transitions for our little ones moving up to the Ermine Street Church Academy are particularly smooth as the children are familiar and comfortable with the wider school surroundings and activities, as well as with their fellow classmates who too transition into the adjoining school. Children feeding into different infant and primary schools are equally welcome and will benefit from their own special transition and 'buddy' programmes to ease them into mainstream schooling when the time comes.
