Ongoing Training
Here at Jemima we believe that nobody has ever finished their learning journey!
Level Three training
Our aim is to have all of our core staff qualified to a minimum of level three. Staff complete any written assignments in their own time but we do all we can to support their practical learning in the setting, for example by allowing them to spend time in all three age groups, providing learners with a mentor/buddy and ensuring they have time with their assessors.
Level Two training
We are really proud of a practitioner who has completed the first step of their Early Years training journey with us by gaining their level 2 qualification after 20 years in a completely different field. As with level 3, we do all we can to support this within the setting as we know that better qualified practitioners means higher quality provision.
In-house training
All staff are expected to take part in regular training delivered 'in-house'. In the past year, we have offered 'Paediatric First Aid', 'Self-Regulation' and 'Safe Food Handling and Allergy Awareness'. This training usually happens after working hours or at the weekend but our dedicated staff don't shy away from this as they know that the more knowledge and skill they have, the safer and happier the children in their care.
Other training
Team members also access training provided by outside agencies such as Cambridgeshire County Council and National Day Nurseries Association. Recently team members have completed training such as safeguarding, caring for babies, curriculum planning, managing behaviour and special educational needs.
Two team members have recently completed training to become mentors so they can offer even better support to colleagues with their learning journeys.
